North Macedonian Karpos city has been actively working on greening the city for a long time. One of the goals of its efforts is to attract more investors and tourists. Project supported by SCF developed a comprehensive municipal renewable energy plan (MUREP) focused on the use of solar energy, including the feasibility study of using solar photovoltaic power plants on municipal and public buildings. The plan also includes a visual presentation of all available rooftops and locations for the development of photovoltaic power plants in the city, as well as a proposal for an innovative business model for the use of heat pumps and cooling units for both municipal and private buildings.
The municipality is in the process of installing solar power plants on the roof of 2 municipal schools, with a vision to install photovoltaics on all municipal facilities (question of financing). The projects envisaged by MUREP are included in the Annual Programs of the Department for Ecology and Energy Efficiency, and are also used in other Departmental documents and project applications.
